I can't even begin this post without crying...
In August Brodie was diagnosed with brain cancer. Two invasive tumors in his brain that were causing him to be unbalanced and uncoordinated, causing the cerebral spinal fluid to stop flowing to his spinal chord. I'd like to say that we didn't see it coming but we did. He had been showing signs for a couple of months and after seeing the veterinarian numerous times, they recommended we get an MRI. So, there we were. Faced with the terrible reality that our sweet Brodie was dying.
The next month consisted of medications, lots of food, lots of water and LOTS and LOTS of LOVE! He went back to being his old self for about a week after we started the medications. It was so nice to see him playful again. But it soon faded and his condition deteriorated. Josh and I finally had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. The hardest thing we've ever had to do and the worst day ever. Worst week ever. Quietest two months ever.
Going through our days without Brodie just feels wrong and weird. Josh and I were married only a few weeks before we got Brodie. He's been with us from the beginning...through everything. It's been two months since Brodie passed and thinking about it still brings me to tears and makes my heart ache. Ahhh, it's taken me forever to even finish writing this post because I can't stop crying. The days have gotten easier. I still catch myself going through the day expecting Brodie to be there. Oh how I wish I could give him one more smooshie face, one more hug, and watch him rolling around in the grass soaking up the sun.
We miss you Brodie. We always will.
Love you.
Enjoying his last bone.
