A Little Bit of Everything

We've been pretty busy the past month or so. Between celebrating Easter, visiting with friends, enjoying the beach, homeschooling, keeping up with our weekly routine of Bible study, play dates, and story time at the library, enjoying the beautiful weather, celebrating birthdays, enjoying soccer games, running a 5K, and tending to my new adventure (gardening), we've been nonstop. And I'm lovin' it!

Our good friends, Tina and Hannah (who we knew in Belgium), came down to FL for a visit and we were able to meet up. We hadn't seen them since June 2011 and it was great catching up. Deacon and I also spent a few days down in FL with our friend Carolyn and her boys. It was great just to hang out and let the boys tire themselves out playing!

With the exception of today, the weather has been awesome! In the 70s, sometimes 80s, and super sunny. We've really been enjoying the outdoors, often having lunch outside. I love this time of year!

We're still enjoying homeschooling and Deacon is learning so much. His favorite thing to do right now are puzzles. He'll sit at the table and do them all, and all by himself.

One of my goals this year was to start gardening. I don't have many people in my family who are successful at this (a lot of black thumbs), but I'm determined to make this work. This is what I have so far. Most of our plants were from seeds, however, we did have a few freezes after I planted and my tomatoes, peppers, basil, and rosemary had to be replaced with plants. So, I kinda cheated. I've also planted beans, cucumbers, garlic, green and yellow onions, carrots, lettuce, thyme, cilantro, strawberries, and blueberries. I love going out everyday and seeing everything grow. So rewarding. Praying the success continues!

The warmer weather has brought us some new friends. I put our humming bird feeder out one evening and by the next afternoon these little guys were there. It's amazing how they find it so quickly! It's fun to watch them. The feeder is right outside our dining room window so we get to see them all day.

We enjoyed Easter this year with our church family and friends. It was a wonderful Easter service, followed by yummy food and fellowship at our friends house. This was the first year Deacon did an Easter egg hunt and he really seemed to enjoy it. He also enjoyed some sweets, as you can see in the picture below.

Deacon's friend, Elijah, is playing soccer for the YMCA and Deacon loves going out to watch him and cheer the team on. He's constantly asking to play soccer. He'll be old enough to play in the Fall and we can't wait. It's going to be so much fun to watch him play, and he's ready!

We were able to celebrate Elijah's 5th birthday and it was great hanging out with all of our friends. Deacon really liked hitting the piñata (thanks to dad for helping out).

Deacon and I spent a couple of days last week in FL, enjoying the beach with my mom and dinner with my sister, nieces and nephew. We had a great time and Deacon really loved the beach. We went for a walk and picked up some shells along the way. His favorite were the clams that open up and make the shells that look like butterflies. They are now known as butterfly shells. :) I hope this doesn't cause any confusion when we start studying butterflies. HA!

I ran another 5K yesterday. Although I hadn't trained for it, I didn't do too bad. Took 35 minutes. It could have been worse. HA! It was nice to run it with friends!
