We started homeschooling and Deacon's first week went well!
Our focus is to learn our letters, numbers, shapes, and states. He already knows his colors but we'll review as we go through our activities. His first week focused on the letter A, number 1, circles, the color red, and learning all states that start with the letter A.
Monday we started with a yummy breakfast and some Bible time (we're learning the story of Creation). Then we worked on learning our states before heading to our friends house for a back-to-school party. Deacon was more excited to play with the toys at our friends than do the crafts but he enjoy playing some games.
He loves this little place mat and is learning his states quickly! The best $1.25 I ever spent!
Playing pin the worm on the apple.
Learning different shapes and colors.
I'm so proud of Deacon and it was such a joy to see him excited about learning! Our focus was on certain things but we ended up discussing and learning so much more. He knows all of his colors, can recite the alphabet, has learned so many letters and shapes, and can now identify Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, California, and Connecticut on a map. Everytime he would identify something correctly he would just laugh and giggle like it was the coolest thing in the world.
I know we will have our difficult days, but I think we're really going to enjoy homeschooling!
