Amsterdam

Last weekend Josh and I decided to visit Amsterdam. We drove the 2.5 hours there and stayed the night at a nice hotel located on one of the canals. The city is pretty, especially this time of year with all the leaves changing colors. There are tons of canals throughout the city and we rode the hop on, hop off canal bus so we could see everything. We walked through a couple of the big, beautiful parks, ate at an awesome sushi place, went to the flower market, and just enjoyed walking around Amsterdam and enjoying the city.

We tried visiting the Anne Frank house but the line was so long that we took some pictures of the outside and decided not to go inside. Of course the 2 things Amsterdam is known for, legalized marijuana and prostitution, were everywhere. We passed many "coffeshops" where we could smell the marijuana in the street and although we did see the "red light district," we didn't even have to go to that specific area because it was pretty much throughout the whole city. It's sad! Definitely not a kid friendly city, but still worth the visit!

Cute, little cafe where we stopped to enjoy some banana cake and a canoli.

These elephants were everywhere. I read that in Nov. they will be auctioned off to raise money for Asian elephants. This "Kiss" elephant was the coolest!

We bought the bulb for one of these flowers. We thought they were so cool looking. We'll see if I can actually get it to grow.
