Interesting Things about Belgium/Europe

  1. Appliances are tiny. It takes 2 hours to wash one load of laundry and another 2 hours to dry it. Also takes 2 hours to wash dishes in the dishwasher
  2. Tons of street signs, most of which have the same meaning
  3. Each town has specific trash bags, you can't use just any trash bag from the grocery store
  4. Recycling is a big thing here because each specific trash bag costs a little over $1.00 per trash bag and recycling is cheaper
  5. I can't watch my tv shows here. AFN has only a few reruns and I can't watch them online because we're outside of the US. UGH!
  6. There are only a few stop signs here; mostly yield signs and they love roundabouts here
  7. They LOVE fries, chocolate, beer , bread, and flowers (and so do we...HAHA!)
  8. 16 is the legal drinking age here, and you don't get your driver's license until you're 18
  9. Money is more colorful and "flashy" than ours
  10. Tipping at a resturant isn't required
  11. Favorite phrase is "not possible"
  12. Belgians do not eat peanut butter, they eat nutella
  13. Price for electricity is 1/2 off after 10 PM and on the weekends, so everyone tends to do laundry on the weekends
  14. You have to pay to use a public bathroom
  15. If you do not drive a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi you aren't cool
  16. Every beer, and most sodas and water, have their own glass. You will never receive any beer without the proper glass..."It doesn't taste the same." HAHA
  17. Have McDonals, Pizza Hut, and John Deer here (McDonalds is the only fast food place in the economy)
  18. When driving, it is illegal to pass on the right. So if you're on the interstate in the far right lane you cannot pass someone in the middle lane unless you drive to the far left lane and pass
  19. No right on red rule when driving
  20. Restrooms on the interstate do not include bathrooms. They are only a place to park and eat.
