We FINALLY got the internet hooked up!! WOOHOO! We're sooo excited. Both of us our sitting on our couch surfing the web. YAY! So now that we have the internet hooked up you can call us. If you need the number again just send me an email and I'll send it to you.
On another note, our weekend was interesting. Friday night we decided to try this resturant at the end of the road. Josh and I pass it everytime we drive back to the house and we've been wanting to eat there. We really enjoyed it! We arrive about 8:45 PM and didn't leave until 11:00. The food and wine were great, the atmosphere was great, and we sat and had a lengthy conversation with the owner, Allen. He is a very nice gentleman and we talked about everything, from work, to our move, about American, about music, about traveling, about politics, etc.
Saturday we slept in and made another trip to IKEA. If you didn't hear about our first trip there, let me fill you in. It was horrible! We went on the weekend and it was extremely busy. There were so many people I felt like we were cows being herded through a pin. Everything is in different languages, nothing was in English, and to top it off we had the tiny rental car and we had a difficult time getting everything we bought into the car. It took us about 15 minutes to get our stuff in the car. I was crammed in the back seat and very unhappy about it. That trip was very overwhelming. This Saturday we decided to try again since we had the Jeep and knew we wouldn't have any problems trying to make things fit. The trip was much better this time. Not as many people and we had the Jeep!
Sunday we decided to venture out and went to a local wine festival. Probably the most awkward Josh and I have ever felt! Hardly anyone spoke English, Josh had a difficult time trying to get his point across, everyone crowded the wine booths so it was hard to get to the front to try some wine, and it was super crowded. Finally we found one booth where the gentleman spoke English, we bought 2 bottles of wine from him. We also bought some chocolate (which is soooooo good!) So all in all it was a very interesting and overwhelming experience. We walked away with 2 bottles of wine, chocolate, and a very awkward feeling in the pits of our stomaches. Talk about an immersion experience. But at least we can say we went to a wine festival in Belgium!
Today Josh and I started "headstart," a week long course where you learn about Belgium culture and history and learn basic French. Today was all about Belgium, how to adapt here, how to pay bills, etc. It was interesting, but I'm definitely excited about learning some French tomorrow!
So, how was the wine? So glad you got your jeep. Pop said "O Lord" when I told him how much gas cost you. I told him that next we'll be hearing that you went out and bought bikes. HA HA
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have too much trouble with French. Now Josh can say naughty things to you in another language. :) Keep on posting!
Love you lots,
Grandma & Pop
Sounds a little crazy! But also sounds like some fun life experiences!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they had IKEA over there... pretty cool!
